Sami Khedira set for Chelsea or Arsenal switch after Real Madrid Super Cup snub
SAMI KHEDIRA is on the brink of leaving Real Madrid for either
Chelsea or Arsenal after Carlo Ancelotti left the 27-year-old out of his
UEFA Super Cup squad last night. The Germany international has been tipped to leave the Santiago
Bernabeu this summer following the big-money arrivals of James Rodriguez
and Toni Kroos, and Spanish outlet Marca claims that
Ancelotti's snub for the 2-0 win over Sevilla means that Khedira is free
to leave before the end of the transfer window.
The former Stuttgart star joined Real in 2010, and has made over 90 appearances for the Liga Liga giants.Despite
consolidating his status as a hard-working box-to-box midfielder,
Khedira has slipped down the pecking order under Ancelotti, and is ready
to make a Premier League switch in the new few weeks.
Arsene Wenger has been a long-term
admirer of Khedira, and is keen for the German to beef up his midfield
options as he also searches for a new centre-back following Thomas
Vermaelen's £15million move to Barcelona.However, Chelsea are
believed to be Khedira's preferred option, with the player keen for a
reunion with former Los Blancos boss Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese
manager reportedly called Khedira earlier in the window persuading him
to snub Arsenal in favour of a Stamford Bridge switch, and 'The Special
One' could wrap up a £20million deal before the end of the month.
